Lampu kota yang hanya berkedip sesekali tanpa memperhatikan angin berhembus melewatinya. Dalam kegelapan tiba-tiba ada seekor kucing berjalan tanpa arah, dia berjalan terkadang berhenti menengadah ke langit seperti menantikan sesuatu yang teramat penting. Kemudian kucing itu berhenti di bawah sinar lampu kota yang agak rusak dan redup. Matanya sayu seperti tanpa harapan, seperti sedang berpikir dengan keras, atau malah hanya seperti melamun tanpa tujuan yang  jelas, tubuhnya begitu kurus. Bulunya kumal tak beraturan, hanya satu yang terlihat bagus dari kucing itu, matanya. Matanya berwarna ungu, sungguh sangat indah ketika dia memandang kesana kemari. Dia tetap memandang kedepan dengan hampa, lalu dia berdiri lagi danberjalan menuju kearah selatan, dia berjalan dengan tenang dan menghilang di kegelapan malam.
Dari atas keadaan sama saja, hanya kota tua yang bergitu sepi. Tiba tiba dari arah barat terliahat siluet orang yang sedang berjalan, berjalan tertatih tatih seperti merasakan sakit yang teramat sangat, dia terus berjalanke arah barat, di punggungnya terlihat seperti membawa barang yang sangat berat. Dan barang yang di bawa itu menimbulkan bau yang tak sedap. Sehingga banyak lalat mengikuti dari belakang dan tercium pula bau yang sangat busuk menyerang.
